Sunny Summer Day

I’ve known Jarod for many years, so when Jaord asked if I can take his wedding photos. I just couldn’t say no to him and Helen even though I already have quite a busy schedule and normally wouldn’t want to take another job,

Photographer loves beautiful sunlight and we had a beautiful sunny summer day when we shot this set of photos. Actually it was a VERY sunny day and the sun nearly melt us just a few minutes after we started our location shots at Cornwall Park. It was so hot that we were forced to move to the more shaded area and temporary leave the beautiful (and hot) sunlight behind!
But as I said, photographer love beautiful sunlight, so it wasn’t too long before I can’t resist the temptation and asked everyone to go back and take some more photos under the beautiful sunlight.
So anyway, below are some of my favourites from that day. I hope you’ll like them

Brazil – Rio De Janeiro

I’ve recently spent two weeks in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Rio De Janeiro is one of the most vibrant city I’ve even been to! It is a city with big contrast. It is a place where is no standard voltage, so the voltage can be either 110V or 220V. And you can find European, U.S., and even NZ standard electric sockets on the wall.

There are breathtaking scenery everywhere. The Jesus statue Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) sitting on top of the 700m Corcovado mountain is visible from most of the city! There is the Sugar Loaf, the world famous 4.5km Copacabana beach…etc

For security reason, I decided to keep my camera gear simple so all the photos here were taken using my Nikon D800 with either the 50mm f/1.4 or 28-300mm VR lens. Oh a few photos were taken using my iPhone 4S too.

A very long day at Bay of Islands

Emma and Chris are a very sweet couple, they were originally from UK and now living in Auckland. They decided to have their wedding at the beautiful Bay of Islands, and not only that, they hired the Ipipiri, a 150 feet long overnight cruise ship so they can have a wonderful evening and morning with their families on the ship after the wedding ceremony.
While the original plan was to cruise to a remote island and have the wedding ceremony on a beach, the weather didn’t allow that to happen so the ceremony was also held on the ship as well. But it didn’t really matter for Emma and Chris as it was not only their wedding but also a family re-union party for their family. A lot of the family members travelled all the way from UK to attend Emma and Chris’s wedding and everyone was having a great time.

For me, it was really quite a long day. I woke up at around 5am and after a 4 hours drive I arrived Bay of Islands, quickly checked in the hotel and met up with everyone just before midday. Then we went on board the ship and the wedding started! It wasn’t until 10pm when I finally got back to my hotel at Paihia. But my job was not done yet! Since Emma and Chris will be heading back to Auckland the next morning and then fly to UK, I needed to go through and tidy up the 800 photos from that day and prepare a CD for them to take back to UK. So in the end I didn’t really get to go to bed until very late that night. Actually, it’s more like very early the next morning. But it was such a wonderful day and I really enjoyed it too. So when I was working on the photos at the hotel, I was still pretty excited and didn’t feel very tired at all even after almost 24 hours of non stop driving/shooting/editing.

So here are some photos from Emma and Chris’s wedding. I hope you can feel the joy and happiness through my photos as well. Oh and I think Emma and Chris both look stunning and so sweet! Don’t you agree?

My city

Went up the skytower with the family recently, and took a few photos when we were up there.
Auckland is really a beautiful city. Do you agree?

Red Hair Bradley

This set of photos was taken at the Auckland Domain. Bradley is very cute and he has AMAZING RED HAIR! We spent about 2 hours walking around the Auckland Domain, had a lot of fun when we were taking photos. The weather wasn’t really good that day but luckily the weather god was quite good to us and it started raining only when we were about to finish. Here are some of my favourites from that day hope you’ll like them. Oh if there is any modelling agencies who might be interested in using Bradley, please let me know! :)

Kodak Gold Award 2011 Winner – Part 2

As i’ve mentioned in the previous post, i’ve won a Silver Merit in the 2011 Kodak Gold Awards – Wedding Bride and/or Groom category this year, and this is the photo that won me the award.
Special thanks to Winston Gee for being my assistant and holding the lights, umbrella and gear under rain for us :)
